A frustrating Round 10 was on the cards for Havoc on Tuesday night when they went up against Panthers. Despite confidence brimming from six consecutive wins, a run which started with a 5-1 win against Panthers, Havoc were unable to break down a well organised defence.
The start of the game saw Panthers race out of the gates with the ball. Dominating possession, Havoc's opponents passed their way through attack. They found the net early, striking from short range after a clever cross from the left wing.
Havoc were left to play catch-up for the rest of the first half. The match became an open affair of attacks with both sides countering each other from end to end. Mistakes at the back were common, however, the teams were unable to convert their chances.
The second half was another period of end-to-end futsal. High pressure on Panthers started to pay off for Havoc as possession started to be won in the attacking third. A misplaced pass from Havoc's opponents, after pressure from J. Rowe, fell to the feet of J. Henderson who lined up a pass on the right wing for G. Bezas to score a emphatic equaliser.
With the scores level, Panthers and Havoc had plenty of chances to take the lead. Both sides had chances from point-blank range to score but fantastic goalkeeping from Panthers and Havoc's J. Winn denied either from converting, both sides finishing the game drawn at 1-1.
Havoc will be relieved to remain top after a draw against Panthers. Kipsta FC (2nd) dropped points in a 5-4 defeat to Guaca Juniors, leaving Havoc two points clear at the top and with another three points gained through a bye round next week.
The next game for the Reds will be Tuesday 4 May against Former Glory at GESAC Court 3 with kick-off at 9:30pm.
