With confidence brimming from their 5-1 win in Round 3, the boys in red returned after a bye week to grab another three points to place them second place in League One. A flurry of goals in the first half was enough to hold off Former Glory and secure second place moving into Round 6.
Match Summary
Havoc dominated possession in the opening minutes, securing two goals in the first five minutes. Quick dribbles down the right wing by M. Watkins were met with the daft touch of J. Tamvakis at the far post who tapped in his second and third goals of the season. A third would follow from S. Rogers, taking the ball just past the halfway line before cutting in and curling a finesse shot into the top corner. Definitely one for the highlight reel!
With a comfortable three-goal cushion, a quick switch-off by the Oakleigh boys left a Glory man free in the defensive third, who then proceeded to score past J. Henderson with ease to end the first half 3-1 in favour of Havoc.
The Reds were still keen to add to their lead in the second half, pushing three players upfront but were unable to find the finishing touches to their attacking play. Despite dominating possession, Havoc were unlucky to concede a second after a Glory player found the net through a sea of legs in front of goal.
With the pressure on, and the boys looking for a fourth goal, Havoc still couldn't get the final shot on their attacks leaving their defence open to counters. With only a minute left, a failed attack by Oakleigh saw Glory counter with a one-on-one chance where, luckily, the resulting attempt was directed straight to Henderson in goals.
With less than a minute on the clock, Havoc held possession well and subdued the pressure on their defence to grab a 3-2 win against their old rivals and move up the table to 2nd spot.
Havoc's next game will be Tuesday 16th March at 8:10pm against Jaguars at GESAC Court 3.
