The club had a night to forget on their return to Lakeside Futsal’s Wednesday night competition. Three weeks on from their previous match, the side seemed out of form with their mistakes punished by their opposition.
Starting the match for Oakleigh were Sam Rogers(gk), Lachlan Spiteri(LD), Josh Henderson(RD), Jake Winn(LF) and Rhys Hawker(RF) with Jon Tamvakis on the bench and Rob McAndrew and George Bezas omitted due to unavailability.
Not much went the way of Havoc side which conceded 11 goals and scored none in the first half. Their opponents, 5 Guys 1 Cup, dominated the half punishing Oakleigh’s defensive errors and breaking on the counter attack.
The second half showed promising signs though as Havoc pushed forward and created more chances in the front half of the court. Oakleigh were rewarded for their efforts with a goal in the early minutes through Winn who followed up with a second a few minutes later.
Wasted chances to reduce the deposit, however, proved costly with Havoc’s opponents once again breaking on the counter attack and punishing the side’s vulnerable defence. A consolation goal from Hawker in the final seconds reduced the difference for Havoc in a match where they were obviously second best.
The team are scheduled to have a bye next week and will return to the competition on Wednesday 1 November to play top team Katmorougio.
