Men's First Team: Winning Streak Under Threat?

Oakleigh Havoc's winning streak will be put under its toughest challenge against the league leaders, 1966. Their upcoming opponents are the most successful attacking side in the league, scoring 37 goals from three games (an average of 12.3 goals per game). With pole position on the line, Havoc will need their best efforts to grab their fourth victory on the run.

1966, much like Oakleigh Havoc, are undefeated and have accumulated maximum points from the first three weeks of the season. Havoc's opponents, however, have had more dominating displays. 1966 have won their past three games by at least five goals, their two most recent matches ending in 14-6 and 13-4 victories.

With such a clincial, attacking opponent, Oakleigh will have to perform strongly in defence to subdue the attacking threat of 1966. Havoc's last match showed signs of tactical improvement. The side were able to transition smoothly from defence into attack albeit some defensive mistakes which, if made again this week, could prove costly to the Oakleigh team.

The fixture could ignite a new rivalry with both sets of players aiming to clinch pole position for their respective team. Can Oakleigh Havoc keep their winning streak alive or will 1966 ruin the parade and hold onto top place? The sides meet Thursday night at South Oakleigh College with kick-off at 7:00pm.
