112 Days in the Making

Updated: Nov 22, 2021

Oakleigh Havoc FC will play their first-ever grand final against Kipsta FC, 112 days after their semi-final victory in August. The season has been a tumultuous affair with controversial red cards, incredible goals and old rivalries renewed despite month-long delays due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Havoc, coincidentally, had a forgetful start to the season against Kipsta in early February. The Reds found themselves on the wrong end of a 9-2 drubbing before bouncing back in the following weeks with an 8-game undefeated streak, including a thrilling 7-5 win against their grand final foes in Round 8.

Oakleigh's best performances of the season came in Rounds 13 and 14, where the boys scored 23 unanswered goals; 17 against Jaguars and 6 against Strikeforce. Kipsta, however, came back to haunt the Reds, delivering a humbling 7-1 defeat to keep their goal-scoring joy short-lived.

The memories remain for Havoc and on Tuesday night, the grand final will pit the division's top two teams against each other for a fourth encounter. The match is guaranteed to be filled with intensity, passion and, most importantly, goals. Tuesday night couldn't come any sooner for Havoc, now less than 24 hours away from their first-ever grand final.
